Winter Lips – from chapped to beautiful

Beauty CareOne of my main tips is always to wear lipgloss when you are out and about (at least you will have something on to make you feel polished)!

But..what do you do when your lips are chapped? Especially now in the winter, lips exposed to dry air, cold air and wind are prone to chapping.  Here are some tips to keep your lips soft and some great new lip products to try:

1) Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day. Dehydration is also a cause of dry, chapped lips, so keep yourself hydrated

2) Along the same lines, add a year round humidifier to your house. Your skin, hair and lips will truly benefit!

3) Exfoliate your lips at least 1-2 times per week. An easy way is to take an old toothbrush and add a small amount of a mild exfoliating product to it. Gently brush your lips and rinse.

4) Choose a lip product that contains natural oils and moisturizers.

5) Choose a lip product that contains an SPF to protect your lips from the sun.

Some new ones to try out that have some other great benefits:

Softlips has a new line of Tinted Lip Conditioners in three shades- Rose, Bronze and Pearl- and they all are neutral enough to look good on all skin tones. These are a great alternative to lipstick or lipgloss if you are on the go. Plus the price is right at $2.99 in the drugstore or grocery store. Visit www.softlips.com for more info.

ChapStick®also has a new line of lip balms called ChapStick® Fresh Effects, which has a light tingling sensation which I loved because it gave me a little perk in the afternoon (in case there is no coffee around!). It also contains 13 moisturizing ingredients to keep your lips hydrated. It comes in two “flavors” :  Refreshing Mandarin and Invigorating Green Tea Mint. These new products are also priced at $2.99. More info is at www.chapstick.com.
